“Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood”
Grade 2 students explored entrepreneurship skills through a fun and engaging activity: The Straw Newspaper Ball Game! Students teamed up in groups of 2–3, crumpled a newspaper sheet into the smallest ball possible, and used straws to blow it across the basketball court and back.
The game was filled with energy, laughter, and teamwork, but it also carried a deeper purpose. As students coordinated strategies, took turns, and encouraged one another, they naturally practiced the Habit of the Month: “Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood.”
They listened to their teammates’ ideas, understood different approaches, and worked together to reach a common goal much like real entrepreneurs who must communicate clearly and collaborate effectively.
The activity not only strengthened their motor skills and problem-solving abilities but also nurtured empathy, cooperation, and respectful communication.
A fun learning experience, beautifully lived!
